(تَرَفٌ) التَّاءُ وَالرَّاءُ وَالْفَاءُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ، وَهِيَ التُّرْفَةُ. يُقَالُ رَجُلٌ مُتْرَفٌ مُنَعَّمٌ، وَتَرَّفَهُ أَهْلُهُ إِذَا نَعَّمُّوهُ بِالطَّعَامِ الطَّيِّبِ وَالشَّيْءِ يُخَصُّ بِهِ. وَفِي كِتَابِ الْخَلِيلِ: التُّرْفَةُ الْهَنَةُ فِي الشَّفَةِ الْعُلْيَا. وَهَذَا غَلَطٌ، إِنَّمَا هِيَ التُِّفْرَةُ وَقَدْ ذُكِرَتْ.
