بالضم ثم السكون، واحدة الحفر: موضع بالقيروان يعرف بحفرة أيوب، ينسب إليه يحيى بن سليمان الحفري المقري، يروي عن الفضيل بن عياض وأبي معمر عبّاد بن عبد الصمد، روى عنه ابنه عبيد الله.
