[نطس] التَنَطُّسُ: المبالغة في التطهُّر. وكلُّ من أدقَّ النظر في الأمور واستقصى عِلمها فهو مُتَنَطِّسٌ. وفي حديث عمر رضي الله عنه: " لولا التنطس ما باليت أن لا أغسل يدي ". يقال منه: رجلٌ نَطُسٌ ونَطِسٌ. وقد نَطِسَ بالكسر نَطَساً. ومنه قيل للمتطبب: نطيس، مثال فسيق، ونطاسى أيضا. قال البعيث بن بِشْرٍ يصف شَجَّةً أو جراحةً: إذا قاسَها الآسي النِطاسيُّ أَدْبَرَتْ * غَثِيثَتُها وازْدادَ وَهْياً هُزومُها * قال أبو عبيدة: ويروى " النَطاسِيُّ " بفتح النون. وتَنَطَّسْتُ الأخبارَ: تحسستها. والناطس: الجاسوس.
