سُبحان الله: معناه أُبرِئ اللهَ تعالى من السوء براءة و"سبحان الله" عَلَمٌ للتسبيح، و"سبحان من كذا" تعجّبٌ منه وهو على معنى الإضافة أي سبحان الله من كذا.
