(تمسح) بِالْمَاءِ وَمِنْه اغْتسل وللصلاة تَوَضَّأ وبالأرض تيَمّم وَفِي الحَدِيث (تَمسحُوا بِالْأَرْضِ فَإِنَّهَا بكم برة) وَيُقَال فلَان يتمسح بِهِ لفضله وعبادته كَأَنَّمَا يتَقرَّب إِلَى الله بالدنو مِنْهُ وَيُقَال فلَان يتمسح أَي لَا شَيْء مَعَه كَأَنَّهُ يمسح ذِرَاعَيْهِ
