النُّخْرُوبُ: الشَّقُّ في الحَجَرِ، أو الثَّقْبُ في كُلِّ شيءٍ.
والنَّخاريبُ: الثُّقَبُ المُهَيَّأةُ من الشَّمَعِ، لتَمُجَّ النَّحْلُ العَسَلَ فيها.
ونَخْرَبَ القادِحُ الشَّجَرَةَ: ثَقَبَها.
وشَجَرَةٌ مُنَخْرِبَةٌ ومُنَخْرَبَةٌ: بَلِيَتْ، وصارتْ فيها نَخاريب.
